Inspired by a neighbouring organic salt farm, The Seasalt Restaurant is set in a traditional Balinese pavilion on a lotus pond. Serving both a contemporary menu and a range of Indonesian and Balinese favourites, Seasalt is also an integral part of the Alila Manggis Cooking School.

Elegant and relaxed, the restaurant looks out on to the ocean and the resort’s beautifully landscaped grounds. Guests can also enjoy poolside and garden dining. Set beneath the tranquil coconut grove, the pool and extensive lawns are just a step away from the beach.

About the Location

Alila Manggis is situated within the regency of Karangasem, close to the village of Candi Dasa and provides the perfect base from which to explore unspoiled east Bali. This area of the island is renowned for its spectacular beauty, where the steep rise from coast to mountain creates magical scenery. Here the local people follow a traditional lifestyle, whether it is cultivating rice, farming, fishing, weaving baskets and the famous double ikat textiles or salt making. Its capital, Denpasar, is a 45-minute drive away.

Various walking tours are available at Alila Manggis, taking in sights like Mount Agung, home to Bali’s mother temple at Besakih and the spectacular terraced hillsides. Other tours can be arranged to see the traditional Bali Aga village of Tenganan, the water palaces of Tirtagangga and Ujung, the weaving village of Sidemen, the Kerta Gosa Palace of Justice at Klungkung and various Balinese temples.

The waters east of Manggis teem with rich and diverse marine life and are home to seven wondrous dive sites. The hotel can arrange transfers from Ngurah Rai International Airport. This will take around an hour and a half drive along the coast.
