Palazzo Merkanti

Step inside our magnificent 17th century baroque Palazzo, be mesmerised by the intricate architecture whilst enjoying a glass of perfectly chilled Bollinger in our stunning central courtyard, a haven of tranquility away from the bustling hive of activity Valletta has to offer.

Palazzo Merkanti was the residence of Pietro Roselli a wealthy Maltese goldsmith and philanthropist. Pietro was an elite member of the Knights of Malta. He commissioned the construction of the Church of the Jesuits, one of the oldest churches in Valletta, where he now rests together with his wife Aloysia Massa beneath a tombstone bearing the Roselli crest.

Complementing the grandeur of Palazzo Merkanti are a collection of 26 design-inspired rooms, evoking the feeling of surreal luxury, wellbeing and serenity. The Designer Collections include our Well-being Collection, a calm and serene ambiance, the Garden Collection evoking flora patterns from Valletta’s secret gardens, Terrazzo Collection epitomising traditional Maltese flooring, the Green Collection a blissful dialogue between old and new, the Duplex Collection is a contemporary palatial space with double height ceilings and the Designer Suite Collection, a one of a kind suite with a fresh interpretation of palette and materials.
