GAY AND LESBIAN HOTELS IN Venezuela

Venezuela’s gay community has been growing openly since 1999 when homosexuality was legalised, though the Catholic Church still has a stronghold on the country, with abortion still illegal, the government is trying to become more independent. However it doesn’t help that the culture’s perspective is still very macho. The capital, Caracas is still developing and there are a handful of gay bars though they are often very much hidden. Lo Cotorra is one of the first gay bars that was established, and like others, it is hidden off a parking lot, there are often entry fees and some may need some form of gay identification, so maybe carry a little rainbow flag with you. Pullman is also a popular gay meeting place . Venezuela’s annual gay pride has been going since 2000 in Caracas and is getting stronger and more energetic every year. However it is an incredibly dangerous city for both tourists and Venezuelans. The top travel spots are outside the capital city in more remote and often tourist resort-based. Venezuela is a natural marvel with so many splendid sights and scenes, the tallest waterfall freefalling over half a mile, or the largest Caribbean island of Isla de Margarita. The country certainly has the beauty of a tropical climate with plenty of tranquil offshore islands, wetlands, and the Amazon rainforest. The Latin America region is famed for its vibrant and colourful cultures, and dancing, Venezuela has its own flamenco-influenced dance called joropo, that should be checked out too. The wet season during May – November will experience daily downpours that may spoil some of your mid-afternoon adventures or sun-soaking.
