Orlando is the home of Disney World for make-believe and where dreams come true and it’s certainly not just for kids. The city is packed full of gay events and they’re as varied as they come, the annual Tidal Wave Party in June is an exclusive party for bears, cubs and admirers at Wet ‘n Wild theme park. If you don’t like your Bears so wet, then the Annual Bear Bash in September is for you. But if you really want to play with the characters of Disney, then join the infamous Magic Kingdom Gay Day with over 100,000 attendees where you can outshine Donald Duck and friends at the parade on Main Street, this event has been going since 1991.
Alternatively The Big Boy Event in March housed in one of the largest and gayest places on earth – Parliament House – is a 4-day festival extravaganza, especially good if you like your boys big. Orlando is all about the gay-circuit parties whether running around theme parks, bouncing on the dance-floor or parading aside the pool in tight speedos.
If you prefer the more traditional gay pride festivals then head in October for the Come Out With Pride Orlando gay parade. Otherwise Pulse, Paradise and Savoy are all premier gay nightclubs and dance spots and certainly worth saving some of your energy for.
There is no specific gay district, however there are plenty of gays bars to be discovered. Orlando is not just a built-up area but has some amazing natural surroundings with over 100 lakes and swamps to Croc-spot, or long lines of white sandy beaches soaking up the Atlantic Ocean.
From the city it is an easy drive to the rest of the Florida cities, the weather is pretty good all year round, though can get a bit hot in the summer months of July and August.
